- A new program announced by President Obama that will allow parents of US Citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents to requrest deferred action and obtain work authorization, so long as they meet certain requirements.
Who can apply under this new DAPA program?
- An undocumented individual living in the United States who, on November 20, 2014, is the parent of a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident and who meets the requirements listed below.
What are the basic requirements to be eligible to apply for the new DAPA program?
- Have continuously resided in the United States since January 1, 2010;
- Are the parent of a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident born on or before November 20, 2014; and
- Are not an enforcement priority for removal from the United States
When will the new DAPA program begin? When can a person apply?
- Approximately 180 days following the President’s November 20, 2014, announcement (approximately May 20, 2015).
